What is the Green Business Member Program?
The City of Columbia Green Business Membership program is a voluntary program to encourage businesses to take proactive steps to improve their environmental record while improving their bottom-line. The program recognizes businesses that operate in an environmentally friendly manner and encourage other businesses to adopt green business practices.
How to Become a Green Business Member?
Begin by establishing a workplace “Green Team."
Draft a narrative detailing steps taken in one or more of the following: water conservation, energy conservation, waste reduction and recycling, and pollution prevention. For suggestions, check out our Green Business Help Sheets. (Participants need only choose goals which are feasible for their workplace.)
Finally, submit one or more significant goal(s) for the coming year in one or more of the following: water conservation, energy conservation, waste reduction and recycling, and pollution prevention. . Refer to our Green Business Help Sheets for ideas. (Participants need only choose goals which are feasible for their workplace.)
Upon approval, participants will receive a Green Business Member decal to post in their workplace window, a listing on the CPAC Web site and recognition at a Columbia City Council meeting.
